I’m currently sitting at my desk doing the most multitasking I think I’ve ever done.
Let me paint you a picture – a grandiose spectacle of visualization:
I’m in the process of sifting through the back-end structure of the website to make it so each separate object post is now allocated as an individual Drupal node – that way everything aggregates into the proper categories instead of me having to update each and every page whenever I want to add some information for a new project.
You might also notice a few extra links have made their way down into the link bar at the bottom of the page (FINALLY THE COLUMNS ARE EVENLY SPACED!!!!!! :D ) I sort of debated with myself for a little bit on how to include certain projects on the site and I finally just decided that it made the most sense to give them their own categories, so since I was in the process of rebuilding the back-end I felt this was the opportune moment to add them.
I’m also in the process of fixing a laptop attempting to fix a laptop that forgets how to read the C:// drive…….not exactly high up on my list of fun things to do. Right now I’m trying to get my desktop to read the IDE drive from this IBM ThinkPad in a 2.5″ drive enclosure but it doesn’t even recognize something attached to the USB port………and the drive just keeps clicking from the moment I turn it on until the moment I turn it off.
UGH!!! :(
On MY laptop, the side panel of my “Super Command Center of Doom” – which will hereafter be referred to as the SCCOD (Pronounced like a SCUD missile)- I am currently watching a panel discussion on CPAC about the future of the media and journalism considering emerging technologies. It’s 1h36min long, but it’s a damn interesting discussion between Gil Klein of the National Press Club (Washington DC), David Akin (Canwest), Paul Hambleton (CBC), Bill Curry (Ottawa Press Gallery), and Joe Banks (Algonquin College), so if you’re interested in the media at all definitely check it out.
——- it’s only online until tomorrow (Easter Sunday), so check it out while you can…..it spirals into one questioner trying to use the discussion to attack the media for not covering his organization…..hilarious :D
BACK TO THE MULTITASKING…
Scattered across my bed are various computer parts for the laptop repair task, along with numerous cables as I am in the process of recording rough versions of Wake Wanting Wanderlust and Walk On Automaton! Both are coming along nicely, though I’m not sure they’ll be finished this weekend —- maybe —- no promises.
I also have a document open where I have lain out the shot-listing for a music video version of the Flight of the Conchords – Business Time spoof song that I wrote last week: InDesign. If all goes well, and I can get access to the room, I’m going to try to film it tomorrow – in part so I can finally return the journalism film gear before the equipment manager phones me up in frustration that I haven’t brought it back yet…….he’s been known to do that in the past :)
