December 2012’s iM showcase posters weren’t constructed into the beginning of the month as everything ultimately felt really up in the air due to scheduling conflicts with work, the venue, and the winter holidays in general; though this also ended up becoming the month that The Indie Machine booked all our live showcases at The Annex Live exclusively.

The first was inspired by The Indie Machine’s finally booking Halifax blues rock duo Cursed Arrows – a group we’d been looking forward to working with for some time. The multi-coloured arrow motif was something I sorta just threw together, and though I played with the colours a lot this is what I ultimately settled on.

The second poster was perfect: a Mayan-themed piece for a concert that fell on the day the Mayan calendar cycle (or this particular b’ak’tun) was said to end. Some have prophesized it as the end of the world or the coming of an apocalypse, though I never really put any stock in that sort of thing, and archaeologists about a month ago were reported to have discovered a Mayan calendar that listed dates even further into the future, which would discredit the conspiracy theories. I just liked the green / burgandy-ish red / golden yellow colour palette.

The final piece was a snowflake piece I had constructed last-minute as a re-appropriation from files I’d used for weather icons while still working as the Art Director at tonight Newspaper. As the bill date and lineup changed significantly and I was at home in Northern Ontario visiting the family, I opted for a quick to construct winter-themed number.
