October 2012 is a busy month for The Indie Machine, with three regular showcases, a handful of co-promotes, and three showcase stage slots for Indie Week Canada.
I was responsible for the poster designs on the three regular show slots – the first featuring a fragmented glass motif in simple white/charcoal colours; the second was an autumn leaf collage that I constructed fairly quickly using a vector leaf I had held onto from some tonight Newspaper designs; the third was a representation of the flux capacitor from Back To The Future, as the day of the concert also happened to be the date that protagonist Marty McFly travels through time in the original film. This also marked the beginnings of our forway into booking The Annex Live as my iM co-producer David Marskell recently took the reigns of manager at the venue.
For the Indie Week Canada posters I ended up going with a cross-over cola theme, each poster skinned as a major cola brand: Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper. Nothing really too complicated at work here, it was just a quick little idea that I had so as to leave enough room to list off enough timeslot information for larger bills worth of musical acts. These shows too fell at The Annex Live as part of David’s first managerial acts was trying to ensure the venue landed a slot throughout the fall music festival.
